Salon 427 strives to make a difference in the community.
Recently the Salon 427 team volunteered for the fifth time at Brooksville, Florida’s very own Mud Endeavor, a messy and endurance challenging 5K foot race. They created a mobile wash station stocked with Paul Mitchell shampoo and provided the exhausted runners with an oasis to clean up and revitalize before heading home.
Mud Endeavor and Salon 427 saw an opportunity to help others and partnered to set up a collection area at the finish line where the runners could donate their slightly used running shoes to be distributed to those in need. Salon 427 saw an opportunity to help others with the gently used, wet, and muddy shoes.
At the end of the day nearly 400 pairs of shoes were collected in what amounted to be the dirtiest charity work this year. Salon 427 cleaned up the act when they laundered each shoe and set aside the smaller pairs to be sent to Guatemala with a missions trip organized by Northcliffe Baptist Church of Spring Hill, Florida. The rest were donated to the homeless population that visit Hyde Park Methodist Church of Tampa, Florida for their morning meals.
Salon 427 also shows us that the spirit of compassion and paying our blessings forward should not just be limited to the holiday season by offering free haircuts to the homeless every third Sunday of the month year round.
So between the chaos of family and friends and food this holiday season and perhaps if you manage to wiggle out of dinner with the in-laws a bit early with a desire to pay it forward, we cheerfully encourage you to contact Salon 427 who will be hosting a Food Drive this November as well as a Toy Drive in December. Any effort or contributions offered will make the season truly jolly for those less fortunate.
Happy Holidays from the team of Salon 427, and go easy on that eggnog friends.
